Using face oils as a part of my skincare routine

It’s been a long time ago since I thought that using face oils would make my face skin (more) greasy. But after using it regulary I’m absolutely convinced , it gives even better effect on my skin as I thought. As a result, my skin is not greasy at all, it looks even more nourished and moisturized.

Experimenting with face oils just happened once I was making my face creams. I put on my face some blend of carrier oils, which left after mixing face cream. I noticed that skin was not greasy at all. Actaully, it sinked in quickly and left a nice shine on my face skin with a light and soft feeling.

Therefore, I’ve included face oils in my daily regime.

What is face oil?

Face oil (or oil serum) is usually a blend of different carrier (vegetable) oils. They don’t contain water, just oils. That’s why they are extremely concentrated and making special nourishment to the skin.

Which oil to choose mostly depends on your skin type and its preferences. Firstly, each carrier oil has its own characteristics, based on essential fatty acids (linoleic acid, omega 3, 6 and 9, oleic acid, palmitic & stearic acids). Secondly, it’s also fulled of antioxidants and vitamins (A, E).

Therefore, carrier oils diferentiate from each other in spreadability, absorption rate and skin feeling after applying it on skin. All these elements can influence our decision, which carrier oil to choose or buy.

For instance, let’s look which are main face oil’s benefits:

  • Regenerating the skin
  • Balancing
  • Soothing and calming
  • Nourishing
  • Repairing
  • Improves apperance of lines/wrinkles
  • Improves skin glowing

How to use face oil?

Due to my experiences there are certainly no right or wrong ways of using face oils. Most importantly, your skin can navigate you what it likes the most.

Just for a start I can give you few tips of using face oils. You can check and think about them, which one (or more than one) you find most suitable for you and your daily regime:

  • Applying a few drops (2-3) of face oil over the top of your face cream. Certainly, it’s a good choice especially in the winter, when extra protection against skin water loss is needed;
  • Applying a few drops of face oil over the top of face mist or hydrating tonic
  • Some people use face cream in the morning and face oil in the evening

I often experiment and like to use different natural face products and combining them in many ways just to find, what suits me the most. All three uses of face oil I’m mentioning above are actually mine too. In other words, it depends on my skin condition and weather circumstances, which face oil I use.

it’s always about observing. Do not forget your feelings and observation of your skin. Your skin tone will definitely tell you, how good is face oil or which one you should use.
